Connecting a smart TV to Sky

We have just bought a new TV - an LG 29" for the bedroom
I am having problems connecting it to Sky via the EYE thingy
I have connected it straight to the UHF push on socket and scanned on both cable/ digital and satellite and nothing has been found (the sky box, downstairs is on)
Should I be using a SCART adapter instead ?
No SCART adapter was included with the TV

SCART will provide a better picture than UHF but the distance will determine if its feasible.
Is the Sky box SkyHD? Assuming it is then a HDMI will give better picture still and allow you to get HD channels, again subject to distance. Alternatively to avoid long cable runs you can get reasonably good HD or SD video senders that will be more expensive for a good one than a cable but gives more flexibility on placement/ avoids drilling etc but budget ones may struggle depending on distances, home construction and interference0 -

You need to scan on the "old" UHF channels as the "Eye thingy"transmits like an old VHS video recorder0 -
It works - I have it on TV - Rather than Satellite or Digital
it is an analogue signal !!

The TV is a good 50 feet from the Sky HD box - and the second TV - So HDMI is no good !!
