Drums in a terraced house

My partner is a pianist and we live in an end terrace - when we were looking for somewhere to buy we deliberately avoided mid-terraces as we were concerned about noise and wanted an exterior wall to put the piano on. That's not great for the piano but better for the neighbours
OH does practice during the day but you really can't hear the noise unless you're stood outside our front door. I'm paranoid about disturbing the neighbours and had him playing whilst I stood in different parts of the house to see if I could hear him. Fortunately you can't really hear him on the neighbour's side, but we do still have rules about playing and he wouldn't play for hours on end, or play after seven or before nine. You do have to be considerate because whilst he is a concert-level pianist, not everyone appreciates hours of solo piano ... Having said that, we live near a school so if he plays a break or lunch time then there's no chance of the neighbours hearing him anyway!
