Friday 16 January - What small DFW things will you do today?
ziggy2407
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Good morning Ziggy
Thank you for starting us off. Hope you are well today?
Small things for Friday.
1. NSD 8 of 18. 3 in a row.
2. Walking to work, school, cycling back. Getting around 3 hours of exercise per day & feeling fit and healthy. Have saved £7.50 this week by moving me instead of riding a bus.
3. Tonight's dinner is to be a cheese, onion & mashed potato pie with the 2 YS packs of mashed potatoes I bought for 11p each this week.
4. Off to work my 5 hour shift soon. Will be making good use of the coffee and having my breakfast and lunch at work.
5. Will be spending my 50p tips on a loaf. Free money so doesn't count as spending.
6. Looking for roadkill. Am almost at £2.50 of my £5 per month target.
7. Checked banking.
8. Hoping my focus group £50 shows up in paypal today.
9. Almost at £5 in nectar points now. I can't decide whether to use the money to overpay my CC or save it up all year and try for a zero spend Christmas.
10. Gently remind boss to pay my last invoice...
Have a great day all.

Morning Bob and thanks to Ziggy for starting us off.
Today's going to be my first spend day of the week, as we are having a lunch out at work for someone leaving. I still have around £10 in my purse that I withdrew just after Christmas, so I'll use that, then I'm not touching my bank account. Will need petrol over the weekend too.
Other meals are from stores, getting through a big batch of broth I made at the weekend, and keep adding different things to it (e.g. passata, hot sauce, poached eggs) to keep it interesting!
I have a couple of surveys to do, hopefully they'll still be available later when I get round to doing them.
Plan meals for next week - this has worked really well for me this week, because I've already had food prepped so haven't had to think and be tempted to pop into the shops.
Setting myself another mini budget target to get to the end of the month with £100 left to pay towards the BC. Will be tight, but as long as I plan food I think I can do it. Keep your fingers crossed for me!0 -

Morning all

Thanks for starting us off Ziggy.
I was awake for two or more hours during the night, and annoyingly, slept in  I hate doing that - especially as I had contemplated, and rejected, getting up at 5 because I was awake!
For me today:
Check banks
Make medical appointment that I keep putting off
Make appointment with solicitor to overhaul OH's and my wills - our present one mentions a guardian for our younger daughter and she is now 32 :rotfl:
Dusting
Meals from stores - I am making fishcakes today
Put breadmaker on
Put washing machine on - as it is bedlinen hopefully it can go on the line to at least partly dry - I should have done this by now
I am sure there are lots of other things
Must get on :eek::eek:
Hope everyone has a nice day

@Maria - Re your post yesterday, I was a bit taken aback about your co-workers' interest in my bathing habits........then it occurred to me that when I'm jotting down my energy saving things & write 'Share bath tub', you actually think there are two of us in there together, as in at the same time!! No. Wrong! While I wouldn't be averse to the idea in theory, the lovely mr f is built like a brick privy & if he is in the bath, there is DEFINITELY no room for me! What I mean is 'Share bathtub WATER' as in I get out, & he gets in, or vice versa! As I hadn't thought of this as remotely unusual, I couldn't think why this had become a topic of conversation at your workplace, but I think I may have nailed the reason?

And here are today's small things:
*Cleaned entire house using minimal products......nearly time for my new annual bottle of 'Stardrops'.
*Did a few surveys.
*Checked online banking.
*Did some financial admin & filing.
*Emailed John Lewis to request replacement stick blender as yesterday's problem with the motor was terminal......only had it 6 months & it's a Kenwood. Bah!!
*Placed seed order using discount code. it was such a good offer, I almost expected the code not to work, that there'd be a catch, but no.....it really was order 10 single packets of seed for £10. I've ordered my preferred varieties of tomato, cucumber, peppers, chillies, watercress, coriander, rocket, runner beans, spinach & pretty purple spring onions. Total cost should have been £27-15.......I paid £11-95 (which included p&p) The cuke seed alone should have been £4-99! Bargain!
*mr f said he'd get the grocery shopping on his way home from work. he likes the target spend written onto the shopping list now.....sort of a man thing, I think, making it competitive. I don't mind though, as he is doing really well at getting it in at below budget.
*No downstairs heating on until at least 5pm.
*Free fitness, wasn't going to bother, but the sun is doing its best, so I may actually pop out for a walk to burn a few more calories.
This week seems to have disappeared up its own backside. Hope to achieve more next week, but have to say that on the spending front, I've been pretty much squeaky clean :-)
Cheers all,
