Tenancy - Last month of contract question

Good evening,
Firstly thanks for reading this site has been really helpful so far.
Question, I have been renting for almost two years now, finished one Fixed term contract and my current one is due on the 22/2.
The issue is that I would like to move now as I found a stunning 2 bed (I'm renting a 1 bed) but I would need to start my new tenancy on the 1/2.
I have been a really good Tenant. always payed on time and had a good relationship with the Landlord.
Back on early December the Letting agency contacted me directly asking if I wanted to renew my contract again and I said that it was really unlikely that I will as I was now looking for a 2 bed.
Now I told the Landlord last Monday that I would like to surrender the contract one month before is Due or ideally on the 1/2, and he confirmed today that he want us to keep the contract until the current date of the 23/2.
My questions are, is there any way around that besides trying to convince (again) my landlord? The issue is that if I can't cancel the current contract I will either loose the new flat or will not have enough money to pay the new deposit.
I was thinking two options:
1) Try to go something in between and ask him if we can cancel the contract by the 7/2, pay half month rent and try to convince my new Flat agency to save me the flat for one more week. He will need some time to repaint or do any changes to the flat before he can rent it anyway..
2) (and worst case scenario) Ask him that he can keep the deposit (the flat is in pristine condition) as the last month rent, but I would like to avoid that situation if possible.
I would appreciate your experience and what do you think about my options as I would love to avoid losing my current flat or the deposit.
Thanks a lot!

Since you seem convinced that no deductions will be justifiable from your deposit, you will get it back shortly after the end of your tenancy.I have been renting for almost two years now, finished one Fixed term contract and my current one is due on the 22/2.
.... I would need to start my new tenancy on the 1/2.
the Landlord.... confirmed today that he want us to keep the contract until the current date of the 23/2.
My questions are, is there any way around that besides trying to convince (again) my landlord?
No.
(even a 'Break Clause' if there is one would not likely help at this time)
The issue is that if I can't cancel the current contract I will either loose the new flat or will not have enough money to pay the new deposit.
Sadly, your finacial constraints have no relevance when it comes to your legal obligations.
I was thinking two options:
1) Try to go something in between and ask him if we can cancel the contract by the 7/2, pay half month rent and try to convince my new Flat agency to save me the flat for one more week.
No harm in asking them both. They will either say yes, or no.
2) (and worst case scenario) Ask him that he can keep the deposit (the flat is in pristine condition) as the last month rent, but I would like to avoid that situation if possible.
No harm in asking but he's unlikely to agree. The deposit is there to cover the LL for any damage at the end of a tenancy, not a week/month/year efore the end.
Thanks a lot!
Can you not get a short term loan to cover the gap in time between paying the new deposit and receiving back the old? Family? Friends? The bank? Credit Card?0
