Freeview TV Problem

Hi, I have a TV with a built in freeview box. I just purchased a DVD player/recorder/HDD. I want to be able to set the timer on the DVD recorder to record a program from one of the TV freeview channels while I'm out without keeping the TV turned on obviously. I'm finding this impossible to do. Is this possible or do I have to get a DVD recorder that has freeview built in?Thanks for any info.

If the TV is switched off you cannot record from it.
You need a recorder with a built in freeview tuner or a separate freeview box which you would also have to program to switch on/off at the same time as your recorder.0
