Natwest basic current account limit

Damn. I have 4 basic current accounts with Natwest, tried to apply for another one but it said 4 is the maximum limit. Is it for forever or can I apply for more, in time? All these 4 accounts were applied within a month.

If 4 is the max then it's the max.

Why do you need more than 4 accounts with the same bank?
  • Donor accounts. RBS it is then. I just wanted to hear people's experiences if they managed to get more than 4 basic accounts with Natwest.

Lol that's ridiculous. I know it's the maximum, I'm just curious if anyone managed to get more than 4.

  • To be honest you stand more chance of NatWest closing all of your accounts than you getting a 5th.

I doubt it very much. Three are switched to other banks, one is in process. Thanks anyway for the warning.

  • I would guess you can open another once one is switched as you would no longer have 4.

What's the advantage to opening basic accounts anyway? Wouldn't any account with a bank you're already with do?
Do basic accounts show up as a negative factor on credit reports? And/Or are they accepted by all banks for switching to non-basic accounts?

    Sorry for the questions..

I use it for switching to other banks, e.g. incentives, cashback, etc.

I was going to reply (to your comment about all their other accounts being chargeable) but it looks like you've now realised their Select account is also free?

If you've already switched 3 (as you said above), this one's now the 2nd isn't it?
