BISF House & Contents Insurance

Having a major problem getting house and contents insurance for a BISF construction house in FK2 area. Anyone have any ideas??

I had previously seen details around using Homeprotect, but they didn't come through at all even though I received a quote and everything seemed to go ok. When it actually came to activating the quote the day before I get house (16th Jan) they have now advised they can't go through and activate the insurance in the FK2 area due to adverse weather conditions?! (No worse weather than anywhere else!!) I find this disgusting and it would have been nice to know this having done quotes and speaking to advisors well prior to this. Now I have ran out of time and need to get insurance ASAP.

Anyone know of any insurance companies who cover 'Non Standard' BISF houses?

Contact a local broker that isnt swinton and they will be able to help. Several of the non-standard construction insurers dont really do direct to consumer distribution and if there are any particular issues with the FK2 area then a local broker will be used to dealing with them

I'm not sure if Castle do quotes direct for non-standard, I got a quote from them through Adrian Flux (might not have even been that castle, might have been another one)

Never used them, so can't guarantee the policies are actually any good

I have insurance with Kwik fit who have always insured over the past 5 years. You have to call as the online forms don't cater for BISF. I state prefabricated non combustible and get them to put a note to file to say it's a steel frame. It's always been a decent price and call centre is in Glasgow 👍
