SCS sofa insurance policy

We ordered a new leather sofa and chairs from scs a few months back at a cost of 2500.00 in agreement to get the sales guy to offer the 0% Apr with no upfront cost I agreed to take out the so claimed singing and dancing insurance policy, his big sell was that it covers pet damage and child damage..and claims were unlimited.him knowing we had both types. When completing the paper work I asked for a copy of the insurance terms and conditions and was told I would receive them 28 days after the delivery of the sofa, instantly knew the policy was not going to cover what he had said. Some 4 months after ordering the sofa the policy has arrived and you have guessed it pet and child damage is limited to one claim during the life of the policy, damage is only covered for one area and one instance , scratching and chewing are not covered. Or a damage that has occurred over a period of time? This policy cost 300.00 for 5 years I have the right to cancel within 14 days upon receipt of the policy...which I probably will.
I am best upgrading my contents insurance or selecting a specialist insurance policy. Ideally I would like to cover damage by a pet but am aware this is probably excluded in most policies. As it stands my current contents insurance covers more than the scs one.

As you say, pet damage is excluded from most Home policies these days. Whilst you arent limited to one claim Home insurance will be the same in terms of seeing each incident/ occurrence as a separate claim and so each will attract an excess and each will have an impact on your renewal premium. You can find if you make too many claims then no one will offer you insurance for a sensible price.
The £300 may be better invested in covers until both child and pet is better trained not to draw/ scratch/ chew it etc0
