£6k (+vat) for new bathroom

Got a 3x3m bathroom. Needs complete ripping out and everything new.
Company who came out said they don't do labour only work - so they supply items after we say what we want. (Already made me a bit funny).
The quote is yet to come through officially but he said about £6k ballpark - not including VAT.
THIS INCLUDES:
Them removing tiles
Plastering
Retiling walls
Floors
Installing all items
EVERYTHING basically
I was hoping for more like £4k including vat so this is quite a lot more
Than expected. However the company has about 100 excellent reviews on check a trade and seem decent. Just costly.
I'm sure them supplying items and removing tiles is bumping
The price up. Part of me thinks, maybe it's best to just let
Them do it as I'm not handy at all and may bodge it or buy wrong items
is £6000 completely refidiculous for 3x3m bathroom

Does any plumbing other than just connecting need to be done? What about electrical work? Does this include parking and rubbish removal?Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Check trade rating like the site itself is waste of time far too hit and miss and easy manipulated, Personal recommendations is what you should look for.... As you don’t state materials impossible to say if its good but from experience any firm that supplies it all simply couldn’t compete with the buying power of multinationals or maybe even individual trades...
Bath firms much like kitchen you often have overpriced items likely fitted by underpaid workers not a great combination…
Often cheaper and finish is better getting individual trades to do there own skill set experts in one rather than jack of all…0 -
There's a particular order to pulling in the right trades at the right time.
Whether it's fair depends on your fittings and location, but if you're going for a particular standard, it doesn't sound terribly unreasonable.
Lots of people will fit what you supply. We've learned our lesson with that one. What you fit can be implied by the customer that it becomes your responsibilty. If your client chooses something that isn't of quality and it breaks, there is a potential sticking point. Therefore, we supply knowing that we pick with good guarantee and the back up of our suppliers relationship to help. No arguments about who is responsible, either. We are. Some people will pay for that reassurance. And that is what you should get.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Find a sole trader who specialises in Bathroom Refits. I have seen too many bodged jobs carried out by separate trades, no one knows how to tie everything together and get the finishing touches right, you usually then find one blames the other!
Average bathroom we quote at is £5500 upwards inclusive of mid range materials so your quote is about rightHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -

Just to clarify, it's the lack of PM experience on the part of the homeowner that causes the bodge. It's the same as any building project.
Separate trades will give a wonderful finish as long as you know how the job should run and how it changes when you find something unexpected.. That's why project managers are important.

It's a bathroom renovation not a new build! You need a experienced bathroom fitter, not a project manager and a squad of trades - the average 3k labour bill would need to be double to cover costs and show a profit
Put it this way, if you where to employ seperate trades to do the installs to a showroom standard , full strip back to the brick, back to joists and rafters, Then rebuild to ensure a solid and sound durable room ,it would take a damn site longer than 10 daysHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. From experience. No it doesn't. It really doesn't.

We offer perfection for a reasonable price. We don't advertise and are jammed every year and have been for the last 10, over 500 installs in Edinburgh alone
Time served in various trades with the tickets to prove....don't tar all multitraders with the same brushHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -

Being busy isn’t a sign of being good or quality either take dolphin etc There are some good do it all firms although as my old business partner used to say there always work for the not so good in the domestic market…. Not under any illusions hence for Joe public always best to start with recommendations and seeing a finished job rather than a companies bookings, balance sheets and spin …. Surprise as you do so many though you’d thought they’d take so long but I was also surprised they use inside bathrooms and toilets in Edinburgh now….?
But power to you if you can get the work and money in0
