Granite Floor tiles

Looking for some advice on granite floor tiles.

I have only started to look but have seen granite galaxy floor tiles which I really like. Huge price variation from regular tile shops, on line sellers and some ebay sellers.

Wondered if anyone has those tiles laid and if they are easy to keep clean. Do they need sealed and do you need to use special cleaning agents.

Is it a specialist fit or can any tiler lay them?

Also, what should I be looking for in terms of quality? Does the thickness of the tile make a difference?

Any input or advice appreciated.

I would suggest if looking to buy via the online/ebay route, that you get a sample first. Even if this means buying one tile. Quality does vary quite considerably, but some granite is wildly overpriced.

You do need to seal them and use a suitable cleaner. Black polished tiles of any ilk, whether natural or porcelain do tend to show everything! would not really recommend in a hard water area as they would drive you nuts with wiping off watermarks.

Most competent tilers should be able to lay them. They need to be be wet cut and the correct adhesives used, but they are no harder to lay than rectified porcelain, for example. Expect to pay a premium to lay over ceramics because of the extra time that wet cutting takes and the cost of diamond blades, and the specialist adhesives and sealers.
