I love Birmingham!!!
I used to live in GLoucester but now live up north, and recently me and hubby spent a weekend in B'ham............we were mainly due to do some asian clothes shopping....but fitted in a trip into the City Centre too....
Stayed at the Sleep Inn, near Star City.....cheap, breakfast included and so close to Star City for evening entertainment. Great clean restaurant...........
Train Tickets can be found for as little as £20 return from Preston/Manchester area.....this time we drove as there were two of us, but when I go on girly shopping trips with my friend from Glos, I usually go by train...the new Pendolino service is grat at 1 hour 37 minutes!
Anyway, enough waffle....I love Birmingham!!!0 -
We've just got back from 2 nights at Nitenite, the £5.95 offer.
The price was a great deal, and we would stay again for that sort of money, but I have never in my life slept in such a small room!! But it was very clean, new, no noice what so ever, and central. With a comfy bed (had to climb over OH to get to toilet in night tho!). Plenty of tea & coffee, and nice receptionists.
Didn't think much of the breakfast next door- £5.99 each extra. We ate there on the first moning, on the second we had a full English for £3.20 at Debemhams.-much nicer, and set you up for the day.
Thought the shopping was great, very well laid out, shop/roads etc on top of each other-very ingenious! Got loads of Summer Sale bargains, 70% off etc at Debemhams.
Walked for miles all over the place, treated myself to a ring in the Jewellery Quarter-loved it there. Walked along the canals, on a water bus and went to the musium, and the Odean.
We ate at The Big Wok once, this and breakfast was the only meal of the day-very good value. I also had Tesco Deal meal vouchers, could have gone to Cafe Rouge, Bella Italia or Santa Fe, wrongly picked the Santa Fe, my meal was discusting-nevr again!
I had been to Birmingham before with work, but never with time to spare. we really enjoyed ourselves, and would definately go again, if I found the right accomodation deal. I wouldn't rule out staying at the Nitenite, although it was claustraphobic with no window.
All in all -great time.:j0 -
Advice please.Reading the thread but would like some ideas. She is staying in Birmingham centre and have done the shopping thing. Where could I take her in the daytime that would impress?0
