How do we 'reclaim' for money from our last energy firm?
Hello
I managed to half see a fairly recent programme from Moneysavingexpert about contacting the energy supplier we (me and my mum) were with and asking if they owe us comey. I think it was called 'reclaim'?
Is it really that easy? I have heard some people are kept waiting ages and then are told that nothing is owed to them. That would wind me up SO much. But are there any people here that have tried this and find that these firms did owe them money and admitted it?
I just would like to know if my mum is owed anything. Can anyone help please?
I don't see how one could prove anything if they denied they did. Could I ask for evidence they don't?

Do you have meter readings for the supply in question .0
-
You have to check your bills against meter readings - generally though they'll be all over you if you owed them money when you left but some aren't all that forthcoming to refund any credit. It really is up to you to keep an eye on your bills and payments especially if you are swapping suppliers.
You could phone them and ask but be careful you or she might owe them rather than them owe youNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
You will have(or can find out) the initial meter readings with your present supplier.
The should be exactly the same as the final meter readings with your old supplier. You need to find out if those meter readings were used on your final bill.0 -
Npower owe me £300 since I switched a few weeks ago. An email from them said they will credit any monies owed within 6 weeks so I m giving them the chance to act before getting on the phone. EDF did automatically credit my account in around the same period when I left them0

Npower refunded mine yesterday. I too switched a few weeks ago and after they produced the final bill, they refunded me. I didn't ask as they said it might take up 30 days or something. However it was only about 20 days since the gas fuel was switched.SPC 08 - #452 - £415
