What do you think the ftse 100 will be on Good Friday (April 3rd)? The poll will close 30 January.

  • One vote for pessimism here.

Oil price may still not have bottomed, global downturn and an upcoming election.
  • +/- 2% of whatever it is now
    IANAL etc.

    6043.

Disappointing results from some of the major companies will cause private investors to move with the herd, i.e. sell equities.

I think this is the year we make first contact with extraterrestrials, and the outlook is rather worrying

On the other hand if European QE's materialised, we'll rocket past 7,000

Damn those aliens, if they attack Earth and kill everyone it'll really hurt my portfolio.

Putting extraterrestrials to one side for the moment (although granted, it would be an important consideration), I am surprised that European QE is not more obviously priced-in already.

Maybe it is. If it all goes pear-shaped and Merkel gets her way we could be in for a significant drop.

    Let's be bullish though ....... 6,800

The trading session after the euro zone slipped into deflation saw a 3% rise in eurostocks across the board. Pretty much because deflation meant QE very very likely.

It seems my pessimism has company down there at the bottom :)

Of course there is still time before Easter to make your prediction look better, but right now your pessimism looks out of place (just a thread bump really).
