Hello,
Just looking for some advice on purchasing London Theatre Tickets at short notice ?
We travel to London on Friday 23rd and intend going straight to the tkts booth in leicester square when we arrive to try and grab a bargain for the friday night, however looking at their list of available shows they tend not to have the premium shows available.
Does anyone have any tips or links for cheap tickets for Saturday 24th to see any of the following
Book of Mormon
Charlie and the chocolate factory
Matilda
Cats
Phantom of the opera
Any money saving tips gratefully received :-)

Yu could try 'Get Into London THeatre' whcih is an initiative to sell cheaper tickets in January / February each year.

Unfortunately it looks like the Matilda and Cats offer has sold out, and there's no availability for Phantom for 24th - but there are tickets for Charlie & the Chocolate Factory from £40 (not sure how much of a saving that is).
Another possibility is to get to the box office of the particular theatre first thing on the Saturday morning - some shows keep back a limited number of cheap 'day tickets' sold for that days performance(s) on a 'first come first served' basis.

<Edit> - you initially talk about looking for tickets for the evening of Friday 23rd, but then ask about 24th. If you are also interested in 23rd, the GILT link above has tickets for both Phantom and C&TCF from £30 for that night0 -
Thanks for the reply, i will try that link as Charlie for £40 seems reasonable depending on seat location.
We are going to TKTS on the friday for tickets the 23rd for that evening, not too fussed what we see so could end up anywhere, But the 24th as its a Saturday we were hoping to book before we got there for one of the shows listed below :-) so thanks for that0 -
When you say "cheap tickets" just bear in mind the shows you are looking at are very popular so they don't have so many empty seats to offer at discount ( particularly over weekends).
Charlie or Phantom will be your best bet, but you may find tkts sell them at or only just below face value-they don't always have half price type offers available it depends. I don't think you'll get lucky with Book of Mormon, however I think I have read in their website they offer X amount each day at the box office at a certain time. May be worth checking.
I got reduced price tickets through tkts to phantom a few years back-mid week matinee, not the best seats, but we got upgraded on the day so it worked well!0 -
Just want to say thanks again "p00hsticks" got 2 tickets from GILT for only £40 each 7 rows from the front ! cracking seats for that price.
Now we just play the lottery of the TKTS booth to see what we end up going to for the other night now :-)
happy days !0 -
Hi
Try going to the theatre in question directly on the day.I did this last Wednesday for the matinee performance of Matilda and got £95 seats for £30 worth a try.We were already in London to watch Wicked Tuesday evening,i got those tickets from get into London site.I have used this site on several occasions and always got good seats.
Matilda was brilliant by the way.0
