Why bother to "Compare the Market"?

It was time for my wife's car insurance to be renewed, so I settled into computer mode and started looking for quotes. The best of the compare sites seemed to be the Meerkat - led one and also 'er indoors could get a Baby Oleg toy, which she quite likes. Their best price out of 83 was £176 with Saga, so I thought, "Right ho, that'll do". I pressed the "Buy Now" button and I came across a window telling me this policy couldn't be bought online, and to ring them. So I did and after answering exactly the same questions I had answered to get the quotes, they told me the premium would be £280 odd. Naturally I told Messrs Saga where they could shove their policy and had a moan at "Compàre....". Their reply was "The Insurers set the prices, nothing to do with us". T'riffic, Eh?
So Baby Olag won't be coming to Cornwall to live.
WHAT WAS THE FLAMING POINT OF WASTING ALL THAT TIME.
Just to add insult to injury, when I checked my phone details, the wasted call to Saga had cost me £4.60!!!
Grrr

Did you not get a quote number to provide to Saga?

Thanks Lee, I didn't know about Saynoto0870 at the time.
I gave Saga the quote number, but they weren't really interested.0 -
The bonus for 'Compare the Market' is they now have all your personal details that they can use and flog on to others; equally as lucrative to them as you actually taking up one of their fictitious quotes. You'll be plagued with junk mail and calls for ever more.... Only use these sites as guide, with some made up details. Go direct via a cashback site when you settle on an insurer.0
