Even if it is not directly in contact with the wax?
I've shoved candles in pots etc in plastic bags in the attic and haven't noticed any changes, but not wax directly on the plastic.
Yankee wax tarts come in plastic- so is it just certain types of plastic maybe?

Yankee tarts come in plastic for a reason... So they have a shelf life. Keep one for a long time and you will see what I mean. The wrapper will become coloured, sticky and will smell lovely. When you burn the tart it will have minimal scent. I have a friend who has a wax business... All her products are packaged in brown paper, greaseproof paper and special editions in foil.
I don't suppose it would be as important with no contact.

Thanks to the above posts I went on the wax lyrical website. In their sale section right at the end of the list was a Cranberry & Vanilla jar and also Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh candle jar at £3 rather than £10. They burn for 65hrs and come with a glass lid. Postage is only £2.50. I ordered them yesterday and they arrived this morning!! Less than 24 hrs later. Although I haven't lit them they small gorgeous. I have never tried wax lyrical - I usually stick to Yankee - but am looking forward to seeing if they are just as good. Thanks for posting

Collected today. Look nice (even without lids!).
They have a round bit of plastic over the top, on the wick.
I got the OMG ones and smell quite berry-ish.

Just collected 1 Totes Amazing Christmas, blend of cinnamon and ginger, and 3 Ho Ho Ho, blend of cinnamon, orange and red cherry/
Smell amazing and 55 hrs. burn time. The Ho Ho Ho had piece of plastic covering top but Totes Amazing had nothing.
No prob as, at these prices, who's to complain:j:)
