  • Hi all,

I have been diagnoised with a tumor on the left side of my brain. Oh well, one thing at a time. Can't get much worse can it. I did not contact the CAB, to be honest after I visited the doctor, I just well it was not important at the time. After a lot and I mean a lot of thinking I will be focusing on sorting everything out slowly. I will contact the CAB and also CCCS who did call me but I asked them to call me back. I agree that the loan would be more expensive in the long run, however now it just isnt a option because no one will offer me a loan due to my illness and lack of work. I have however completed the DLA forms and posted them and handed in the housing benefit forms.

Thank you all for your good will messages, it means a lot. Also thank you Martin, for this site, I would feel a whole lot worse if I wasnt able to get advice and support from here, so thank you personally again.

I'm very sorry to hear about the tumor - not something you need right now. Not meaning to be poking my fingers in here but is this a benign or agressive tumor? My aunt had one a couple of years ago and was given very bad chances of making it through an op and even then a very short time SHOULD it be successful.... I'm glad to say she's going from strength to strength and doctors are "astounded" that she's apparently beating it... they still won't give her back her driving license for another couple of years but that matters so little when she has 2 kids under 10 that she is going to get to see grow up :)
DO you have any illness cover or insurance? Any pensions that might have some sort of cover? Does your place of work have a policy in place?
Contact the council immediately and inform them of the test results - with any luck this should help put a stop to any hassle from them. If it doesn't then write to your local councillor and explain the situation - leave nothing out and don't embellish anything but tell the plain cold honest truth - they might over ride any decisionsmade by the housing guys. Also contcat cancer charities - there is help to be gotten if this is a tumor and ask your doctor for advice.

Hello Khalid. I'm very sorry to hear about the tumour. That must be a huge worry and as you say puts everything else into perspective.

The CAB should give you good advice both about the debts and about any other entitlements owing to your illness.

I hope the treatments go well. Like tine, I also have a family friend who is perfectly well two years after having a brain tumour removed. Cancer treatments get better all the time and I hope that you get the very best available.

Take care and keep posting here

    Thinking of you .... :grouphug:

I know it isn't priority right now, but Macmillan Cancer Support have a very useful webpage which may help: http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Get_Support/Financial_help/Financial_help.aspx

Also, tell the Council, CAB, DWP (you may be eligible for fast-tracked sickness benefits) & Council tax / housing benefits people too.
