My outdoor rabbit has fleas

Options
Just discovered my Rex rabbit has fleas, only a few weeks after we ridded the cats from them. I must say the fleas I saw (3) looked slighty different from cat ones - just that they seemed less resiliant to crushing and were pale as if they hadn't been feeding on his blood, yet had left lots of droppigs on his back. Perhaps they are cat fleas after all.
Can anyone recommend a treatment I can get in a store or online? I don't want to buy it in bulk.
Cheers.

Here's a site that sell stuff to Fleas on rabbits. Though I've never used this site or it's products, it worth a look.

They may have come from your hay....... I hope your rabbit has had his mixamatosis jab, as fleas from hay can spread this nasty disease.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Thanks nealallen I took a look but could only see cat and dog stuff on that site, was going to look again tonight but I went out to Asda and found they sell Bob Martin spot on stuff for rabbits, so I bought a packet just so I can get him done quickly. It may not be the best, but I'll keep an eye on him and see if it has worked.

Raksha oo yes maybe it was the hay. I hope not cos I store it in the understairs cupboard! He had his mixamatosis jab when he was a baby thank goodness along with something else - can't remember what but I have the documents here filed somewhere.

He has now been treated, I'll watch out for any more pests.

Bob Martins stuff is a waste of time - please take your Rabbit to the vets ASAP for a checkup, so many people leave the rabbits and it's too late

If your rabbit is scratching itself a lot, he most likely has fleas. Fleas are small flying insects that are dark brown in color. They aren't easy to find in all that rabbit fur, but you can see small black specs of flea poop that has been left behind. Fleas need to be treated ASAP as the fleas will lay larvae on rabbits, rugs, carpet and anything hair like. The best flea treatment for rabbits is Revolution. The dosage needs to be worked out based on the rabbit's body weight, and is then applied to the back of the rabbit's neck. This is so it is not groomed or licked off. Rabbits should be seperated after treatment to ensure they do not lick the flea treatment from each other's fur. Any rugs or material items eg. towels, that have been around the rabbit should be washed in hot water to kill the larvae eggs. The revolution treatment lasts for a month, but rabbits may need further treatment if more fleas have hatched from the eggs.

Here's the product they are talking about http://www.petmeds.co.uk/Products/Fleas-Mites

Hope you manage to get some for your Rabbit :D
