Where to advertise our house in France?

As above, our house, permanent not a holiday gite, will be available from now till mid June and we need it to earn some money.
Worried that normal holiday lets will result in loads of children and perhaps damage.
Ideas? Adults only lets? Letting sites that don't cost too much?
Thanks in advance.

I think the chances of renting out your property from the middle of winter to the beginning of summer to a single renter is practically zero.
And your worry about children is unfounded - people really only go abroad with their children during school holidays and generally in the summer so between now and June that's unlikely.
If I was you I'd market it for short-breaks particularly if there's a decent airport nearby - you can stipulate adults only but often a couple with a child not of school age might be interested in booking.
I have one of my properties with https://www.holidaylettings.co.uk owned by Tripadvisor with a very low fee deducted.
Realistically though unless there's something outstanding about your property you should be prepared to be disappointed as there are so many other holiday lets competing for the same market during the low season.

I would say you're too late starting this unless you rent at a price well below the market rate, many people will have already made plans for that period or have properties in mind to consider. Plus you'll need to find out whether there are insurance requirements to meet that will take time (and money) to arrange.

Thanks, that is what I thought, we have to be in UK, two elderly sick parents, but must be back in France for commitments in June and July.
Will look at sites, maybe someone will want an Easter booking, money very tight so need the lets.

What's the unique selling point for the place?

USP? Well we designed and built the house 7 years ago, large, 8X6m living room with picture windows and spectacular views, woodburner, furnished to high standard, induction hob, dishwasher etc. WiFi, UK tv, etc. There is a pool but it will be shut down. Sited half way between La Rochelle and Poitiers. Easy reach of Futuroscope and Puy du Fou. Lots more I could say.

    Try Anglo Info.
Also search for the English language newspapers in France, "Etcetera" and "The bugle". Possibly cards/ads in the Fish and chip shops around. I am probably about an hour from your house, living in the south of Dept 86, Vienne.

Also Facebook groups such as French Focus Friends
  • Be aware of HL fees. They charge 10% booking fee on top of your advertised price, then 3% +VAT to the owner AND keep all the cash until after the clients have left. T&C allow them to charge up to 15% at their discretion and never advised of these increases which have doubled the fee in less than 12 months. Other sites are available!!
