Thanks. I will look at these. Not a huge fan of Skoda (may be a badge thing) but will definitely consider a passat.

I give up then. If you care what other people think, just buy the 3 Series, then you can look like any other moderately-successful middle manager out there.

What about a Saab? £4k would get a belter.

Yep, may as well have a Vectra and save the cash. ;)

Does sound like OP wants a Beemer, although might be worth the extra for the E90 as it will look newer for longer. Seeing as OP cares a lot about image.

Where's the assumption come from that I care a lot about image?? Just because I said that not liking Skoda's might be a 'badge thing'? It's got nothing to do with 'image'.
  • No one buys Vectra's; they are given/inherrited usually.
    Get a late Mk3 Mondeo.
    Passat(2003-2005 model)
    Superb/Octavia.
S60/S80 would be my pick. Crap turning circle, but hell of a lot of spec for not much money.
    Honda Accord.

318 auto will be very dull to drive.

If you want a BMW, get a 6 cylinder version. Dont be put off by plebs telling you it'll cost more to run - its only an extra two spark plugs to change..

    Second that Bmw or Skoda
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”
