I haven't paid on any I won either? You don't make sense

You will not, consumers do not pay the Ombudsman. The comment that does not make sense is yours saying you have never paid a fee to the FOS - no consumer has!

Other insurance products that you have never mentioned before, and that clearly do not exist as you previously said the loans in question here are the only debt you have ever had.

You're not doing yourself any favours by 'embellishing' your story.

I don't have debt but I have never associated insurance policies as debts!

If you are trying to score points here I am certainly not playing. You won't understand because you have just picked up on something that was said by me and another member. You are only trying to play games and I'm not interested.

Clint163 - the banks pay the FOS fee simply for the customer referring the case regardless of the merits.

Your single example (of 3 loans which you admit have not actually been refunded to you) does not negate the facts of the case:

The OP's father has submitted a claim to the mortgage provider that their mortgage PPI was miss-sold - no details have been given as to what the circumstances of sale were. Nationwide have rejected the complaint.

The arguments that Nationwide have considered include the sick package and savings but still feel these were not sufficient to make the policy worthless (remember, MPPI pays out in addition to work sick pay so that sick pay can go on other bills, not saving the house from the bank repossessing it)

    1) The OP's father is supposed to have 18 months of sick pay but has still not clarified if this is 18 full or some split of full and half pay
    2) The OP has not stated how much these savings the father had were i.e. whether they could pay their bills and mortgage if they were diagnosed with an illness that meant 18 or more months off work.

You may well have been miss-sold PPI on your loan but this is mortgage protection - advising people that the policies are worthless is all well and good but I doubt you will be back here to pay their mortgage after they cancelled the MPPI and then had reason to claim will you?

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Indirectly they do as the costs are passed on in the pricing of products and services. However, apart from that, there is no explicit charge. There is the potential for vexatious complaints to end up costing you money through firm action but that is rare.

It is important to note that MPPI is different to loan and credit card PPI and has a much lower success rate on complaint. It has fewer of the failings and covers a signficant debt with lifestyle changing consequences if it goes unpaid. Today, MPPI is one of only two types of PPI still retailed. It can be mis-sold. However, it is less so and the uphold rate on complaints is lower.
