Late Service

Years back I nearly bought a late Focus mk1 TDCI Sport, test drove it and sat down to talk money, flicked through the history to check everything was OK and it had the first 1,000 mile check then nothing until it had been traded 50k later.
Dealer claimed it had FSH, yet they failed to find any evidence it had been serviced previously, even contacting the supplying dealer.
So it had gone through several checks at the main dealer and either nobody noticed it or didn't care. As supposedly all their stock had FSH.
Basically hand it back at the end with the nook full of stamps and chances are they won't notice.
I'm hoping that will be the case! With any luck they'll just look at the dates. May also go in my favour that last year it was serviced after only doing 10,000. It just so happened that this year I've done a lot of work related travel.
From what you have said though I don't think I need to worry, as long as at the end of the term I'm still under the agreed mileage and have a book full of stamps I'll hope that thats enough.0 -
Thank you to everyone else who responded, it doesnt sound as if there will be much (if any) of a financial impact when giving the car back - Of course I'll be more mindful with any future cars to remember to check the mileage0

Hilarious
but hey, your money, spend it 2-3 a year on a service it you want to. You're already swallowing without chewing everything they feed you with so might as well.

I think misiek404, has pointedout the primary reason to avoid low mileage vehicles that have been owned by the average Joe.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I service my car myself thanks, so it only costs me the oil and a filter. Even if I didn't, I'll still believe the evidence of 20 years working alongside oil companies, manufacturers, industrial chemists and engineers thanks.0 -

Well, it did have full service history, didn't it? There was documentation showing every service it had had - the fact that it hadn't had any is just a technicalityHilariousbut hey, your money, spend it 2-3 a year on a service it you want to. You don't really have [STRIKE]much[/STRIKE] any understanding of mechanical things, do you?0 -
Quickly quickly must service my car like the book says otherwise it'll fall apart during 'harsh usage' around Trumpington. First world problems lol :rotfl:0

Oh dear.
Firstly, that isn't what anyone was claiming. Simply that over-running service intervals by too much - on time or mileage - will have a detrimental effect, which it will.
Secondly, what you were claiming was that lack of servicing won't cause any harm, and suggesting that servicing was a waste of money. Which is bollox.
As I said, not really got a clue, have you?0
