Claim for replacement car from other insurer

That's great thanks (and also Retrogamer for the same answer). I'd think that being hit from behind in almost stationary traffic is pretty clear on liability, so I'll approach the other parties insurer directly.
I'll check the policy wording properly when I get home, but I assume I'll need to notify my insurer, but make it clear that I'm not making a claim. Or are you saying claim for the damage on my insurance and allow them to chase the TPI but contact them directly about a hire car?
If you can is simpliest to claim everything directly from the TPI and they will be happy for you to do this (with the prior assumptions). You will need to notify your insurers for information only purposes though they may try and offer to refer (sell) you to a credit hire company etc
Unfortunately there is no such thing as clear liability as many seem willing to lie about circumstances (eg I was stationary at lights and the person ahead of me suddenly reversed at speed into my car) but hopefully yours will be one of the honest people.0 -

Me too! All very amicable this morning but I've had previous with someone changing their version of events.0 -

He's been told that he is not liable for any payments regardless of which way the case goes. Liability has already been admitted by the other company (his car was parked legally when the other car hit it so they didn't have much choice) so there's no issue from that perspective.
Somewhat off topic anyway. All I was saying is be careful if you arrange it yourself. As Joe Public you wouldn't want to be in the position his solicitors now find themselves.
If the other Insurer disputes the Credit Hire and it looks like going to court, your friend faces the very real chance of being required to send off copies of his bank statements and credit card statements to show he could not have afford to finance the cost of a hire car himself and if it goes to court the possibility of giving evidence in court.
He will have signed to agree to this
He won't be so pleased if they ask for his bank statements.0 -
