Surely they would do better porting these old PC games to Android?

Why do you think it'd be better for them?0

Far bigger market0

Never heard of it, but presumably it's a lot easier to revise an old PC game for a new PC than it is for a completely different platform.0

No, just no, please just do away with Android games completely (coming from someone with a Nexus 5 and 7).
Why do I say this?

It is/was one of the best "point and click" adventure games and one of the last of the genre for a long time, created by LucasArts (who did some corkers), back in the late 90's.
Very good, very funny and from memory a lot of dark humour.
As you say it'll probably be at least initially because it'll be far easier to port it to a modern version of Windows initially, but also probably because from memory it required a reasonable amount of precision to do some of the actions, which you can't do with a small touch screen (and average human fingers).
I suspect if it does reasonably well they'll port it over in some form at some point.0 -

XCOM.
Minecraft.
Shadowrun Returns.
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.
The Banner Saga.
All decent PC ports on Android, and would probably be in most Android Top 10 games lists, so I can understand why the OP would like to see more well-suited ports. And let's not forget the best goat simulator in existence.
There are also a couple of Android games that are so good that they've made the jump to PC, too, like Kingdom Rush and Deus Ex: The Fall.
But more than anything else, the oft-rumoured Android port of F.T.L. will just... no words...:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
You'll need to get the Android port of ResidualVM to run Grim Fandango on Android.

If you are interested in old Lucasarts PC games like Monkey Island, you could also install ScumVM - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.scummvm.scummvm&hl=en_GB0 -
Thanks for all the help and advice.
Do I understand correctly that people are running these old PC games unofficially on android? Persumably this requires a lot of technical skill to do it?
I assume the original game makers can't be bothered as to get enough out of it they would need to be re written to deal with in app purchases, ie the crock of gold in most android games...0
