Starting out - any advice?

I've been making cakes for friends and family for a couple of years and have sold a few. I now want to run it as a business and go ligit!

I have Environmental Health coming to assess my kitchen next week, I'm already registered with Inland Revenue (I did Mystery Shopping) and I have my insurance all ready, just need to send chque off when I get the thumbs up from EH.

So where do I go from here? I bank with Lloyds and have just been in to get a business information pack. I'd like a loan of about £500 to buy a new mixer and make some dummy cakes for wedding fayres and such. I work Full-time and hope to make about £1500-£2000 a year from it (not much I know but its a paying hobby) Any advice re bank accounts and anything else I should know?

I have a website up and running too which gets lots of hits but only 2 cake enquiries.

Hi,

Congratulations on making yummy cakes.
You seem to have done everythign you need to do. Given that you are expecting it to be a small business you dont' have to worry about VAt and such.

Really all you need to do is keep track of all you expenses and income and make those cakes!.
