Cant connect to internet.

I am currently with virgin/ntl, and the internet works for about the first five minutes from the pc starting, but after this it won't connect to any websites. I have done a spyware antivirus search but shows nothing. Any ideas.
If I reboot the pc it works again for aprox 5 mins.
(My internet is unlimited use and not capped).

I'm in the process of moving from virgin to sky bb.
a few days ago i installed the sky disc, (and mcafee) but could not get connected using sky router.
I'm thinking of uninstalling mcafee and going back to avg which I was using before. Do you think this could be the problem?0
