First Direct for joint accounts?

I already have an account with First Direct but my wife is interested in switching our joint account (for house bills etc) to a new bank.
If we got the £125 bonus from FD we'd definitely switch to them but am I right in thinking they wouldn't give the bonus to us as I already have a (separate, single) account with them? Any (legal!) ways around that?

Most likely your can get the bonus, but I'd transform the joint account to a sole one on your wife's name before switching to be on the safe side.
Or just open a new 'donor' account for switching.0 -
Get your wife to open a sole account with her current bank.
Switch the new account to first direct and collect the incentive.
Then convert the new fd account to joint.0 -
What is a donor bank account?0

Second current account from your bank, where you can close it for switching to other bank. You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

From any bank actually
Yes it can be from any bank, as long as you have a current account with them.and not necessarily second.
Fair enough. You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

No, just any bank.
But it is easier if you go with one of your existing banks because they already know who you are.0
