Economy7 meter clock

Hi ,

Wonder if anyone can help me.I have just moved into an electric only flat with economy 7 meter. Have noticedjust the high rate moves and not the low rate on the meter even if I put on my heating, washing and water at night. I had a lookat the meter and I think the clock is wrong . cananyone tell me how to read the meter . I took pictures around 00:15.I assume the pointer at the bottom is how you tell the meter time which is current on 15:00 however am not sureany help will go a long way.

i cant post pictures as am a new member .

Many thanks

If the low rate isn't registering, it suggests that the previous occupant was on a single tariff and that you will have to contact your energy company to switch to Economy 7.
  • Sounds like you have an old analogue circular 24 hour timer switch. Do you have a digital meter ? the pointer at the bottom is pointing to the time it thinks it is..3pm.. and its 12.15 am at night. Your cheap 7 hours are going to fall in a much more usable time slot rather than the usual 12.30 to 7.30 am.
Just observe the meter to determine the start of the cheap rate, I think it will be starting the 7 hours sometime in the morning.Watch the meter to see when the cheap rate is active. On old analogue meters theres a little window on the top right somewhere with a pointer indicating low/norm. On digital meters its more likely to be a blinking curser or reading to show the active rate. Many just default to show the active rate on the screen
