Eon - switching fixed price tariff - money saving tip
I don't know if this applies to other energy companies but you are not obliged to run your fixed price tariff to its end date with Eon. You can switch to a newer one if it is cheaper without paying any exit penalty.
Their exit penalties only apply if you are switching to a different supplier. Providing you are only changing tariffs within Eon there is no charge so there is no need to stay with a fixed tariff till its end date. If they bring out a new cheaper one then switch straightaway.
To illustrate:- I went on fixed 1year version 12 last October with a £10 exit penalty. They have now introduced version 14 which is cheaper so I switched today without incurring the penalty and it now runs to next January.
So I now have a longer fix with a cheaper price and no charge for changing. Result!

I have been switching with Eon on a regular basis now for ages , sometimes I have swapped to swap again less than a week later as I have found a cheaper tariff.
They are very good at sending an alert for new tariff but after hearing about the Gas price drop yesterday I switch again and will save about £2 a month (surprised that I have not had an email to alert me of a new tariff so glad I caught the news early yesterday as one more day at a cheaper rate is money in my pocket, I also found the electricity had gone down a fraction on the new tariff.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
one thing to note is that when you switch between E.On's tariffs, your "minimum" exit date starts again if you want to change suppliers (else you'll incur the exit fee penalty).0
