Npower billing

Hi,

Probably not a new thing to post here, but I think I've fell for Npower's useless ways.

Signed up in November, and initially they failed to send the gas reading to my old supplier this leaving them billing and taking direct debits for that (it still hasn't been sorted)

Then, they failed to accept any meter readings online, including a starting reading, (I have all these noted for reference)

Now, they have decided, via way of estimate that I use 3 times the energy and have landed me with a bill of £87 and want to increase my DD from £31.20 to £73.00 now.

I only paid £35 with previous supplier but as luck would have it Npower seem stupid enough not to have taken any money yet.

Can I cancel the DD before they do? Will it have bad affects on me? I want to leave them already.

    Hi A New Start

    Thanks for your post.

I'm disappointed to learn you're experiencing difficulties with the meter readings and Direct Debit payments on your account. If you can get in touch using the details on our profile page with your account details, I'll make sure everything is updated for you. Put MSE in the subject header so I know where to refer to.

Just to let you know, if you cancel your Direct Debit, this may cause your tariff to revert to receipt of bill, which may cause an increase in your standing charge or unit rate. I'm happy to double check this when you get in touch.

    Regards

    Jess :)

  • Hi Jess,

    Thanks for your reply.

I spoke to nPower last week and they have now sent the final gas reading to Coop in which Coop have issued a final bill (including a bit of credit which is welcome) :)

As for the DD, they have accepted the readings and have altered the DD to £45 which I'm happy with now.

Glad its sorted but what a faff over what seemed an eternity.
