When we start our debt free journey we do all the big things. Cut up the credit cards. Cancel the sky subscriptions. But this thread is about what small things you plan to do to help pay down the pounds.

Good morning all
I'm the earliest bird today cluck!!
My small things for today.
1. Checked banking.
2. Uploaded 2 reciepts to Checkoutsmart to claim my free penny per reciept and entry to the £100 shopping spree!
3. Meal planned the day.
4. Logging NSD 6 Of 18
5. My husband has just found out from school that he could ride our son in, in the mornings then leave the bike there. I could walk over and cycle us both home. No more crazy bike pushing from tommorow!
6. Put £5 on my oyster yesterday but haven't touched it. Don't plan to get the bus again this week so that's my small saving of £1.50 per day still ready to use next week.
7. Will take some Amazon trade in books to the post office today. Should be getting a gift card for £18 at some point.
8. Checked our electric and gas bill for Jan. Says £76. This is interesting as we have the heating on for 3 hours per day. We found out last month we had a £300 deficit due to poor practise at First Utilities end. We had to up our DD to £130 a month. So if that's how much we are spending we ought to get clear of the deficit very quickly.
9. I am doing an online focus group tonight run by my business energy provider paying me £50 straight to my paypal. I am delighted as that will pay for food shopping till the end of the month if I'm careful.
10. Picked up an extra shift this weekend which is worth £60.
When my OH gets paid on the 30th we should have £136 extra from the council tax payment not going out (we pay over 10 months) & £92 as our life insurance/critical illness cover doesn't need paying as we've moved it to another provider & the premium isn't due till end of Feb. So that's quite a lot to play with.
I think I will use some to pay for our home contents annually instead of monthly. That will save us a bit. Plus I will use a cash back site to make more.
The rest should be available for extra debt payment. Or do I use it to beef up my emergency fund?
I know Dave Ramsey says get your EF in place ASAP doesn't he. Maria any thoughts??
Hope you are feeling better Little Pink Purse, & taking it slowly Ziggy.

Morning folks
Thanks to Bobarella for starting off the thread
Last night didn't go quite to plan. OH had a herb mix up with dinner which led to bad ptsd related melt down and refusal to eat dinner. Managed to calm him down, get him showered and dressed (still in dressing gown when I got home). Went for a drive, which is usually a good way to calm him down then went to the pub for dinner. Still., with us both not drinking it was much cheaper than usual. Only £22 for us both as opposed to usual £35
Already done today:- Put bread on
- Put bathroom rugs into washing machine (and put machine on
)
- Washed up cooking things from last night (OH wouldn't let me do them last night)
- Heating on for about 45 mins to take cold edge off house
- Flylady clean the window area in en suite (clean window, treat mold, dust/wash all ornaments, tidy) - done
- B/L/D from stores - done
- Put labels on all herbs!! - done
- Heating on for a couple of hours only - done
- Check online banking (noooooooo) - done
- Go for a walk at lunch time to get some steps - not done. Tsk.
- Charge phone in work - done
- Edit: oh yes, dry January day 10. Didn't drink in the pub. Had a non-alcoholic ginger beer instead. - done
- Re-filled OH's pump bottle of conditioner (it lasts longer this way). Cut open the existing bottle to wangle last dregs out for me tomorrow.
Have a good one all

Good Morning All
Bob - Thanks for starting us off today and yes I'm taking it easy (watching Silent Witness, one of my fave programmes). Good news from Docs yesterday - apparently the heart attack was nothing to do with cholesterol as my levels are very low (2.8) and although I am a little overweight (more than a little really) I am in good health and showing no risk of developing type 2 diabetes or any other serious illnesses, so came away feeling chipper and upbeat.
lpp - big hugs, hope today is better for you

Hello all :j
Thanks for starting the thread Bobarella
Hope all poorlies feel better soon
Well, very little snow here, just a sprinkling which has stayed there even though it was bucketing down with rain earlier. Nasty cold day though!
For me today:
Grandma day, so not much will get done....
Check banks Done
All meals from stores - I cooked enough bolognese last night for tonight's supper as well, so no cooking apart from jacket potatoes, as I am worn out at the end of Grandma day :T I added a tin of kidney beans and a spoonful of HM chilli jam and converted it to chilli for a change. Enough left for tomorrow with rice
Should manage another NSDNot been anywhere, nothing spent
Play with baby GD when she wakes upI am all played out now
While baby was asleep I experimented with slow cooker lemon curd, as I had some rather shrivelled looking lemons that needed using. It worked really well, and I will certainly be doing it like this againPreviously I have made it in a pan and it takes ages, needs stirring all the time and you have to watch it like a hawk to stop it turning into lemon flavoured scrambled eggs  This was really simple, melt the butter, sugar and lemon juice and zest together in a saucepan over a low heat, let it cool a bit and add beaten eggs. Then simply put in a basin, cover with foil and put it in the SC with enough boiling water to come half way up the sides of the basin. I cooked it on low for about 3 and a half hours, gave it a good stir at the end and that was it!
Hope everyone has a good day0
