advice on key meters

I would say savings of twenty to thirty percent are worth it.
£1,000 per year is quite a lot less than £1,400 or £1,300 (for an average consumption.)0 -
I was under the impression they cost slightly more to run ?
Can u change supplier ?
Always in credit with both gas and electric0 -
Key meter offer a smaller selection of tariffs, the most competitive tariffs are on credit meters.
BG will likely charge you to change the meters, and are not likely to have the cheapest tariffs either.
Input your usage into a comparison site like http://www.ukpower.co.uk/, find a competitive tariff, then see if you can get the new supplier to switch you to credit meters when they do the switch.
Either that or switch to a supplier that you know will do the change for free (EDF do I think), then find a competitive tariff when the swap is done.0 -
At the moment BG in my area is nt competive with likes of EDF, EON etc who are quite a lot cheaper on both standing charges and tariffs. BG are easily the most reliable of the big 6 but need to lower quite a lot.Their Standard Fix and Fall credit meter tariff is the same as the prepay tariff...expensive.. and their fixed deals not much better. Firstly, get rid of the prepays.. get BG to swap them , they re usually free ( credit checks permitted )then try the comp sites avoiding such as First Utility, Npower or even Spark Energy. Then when you re happy switch via Monetsavingexperts cheapenergyclub for possible cashback0

As sacsquaco says the price on the meter is the same as the standard price (e.g. pay bill when it arrives).
DD will be cheaper0
