What is the expected shelf life of an ipad?
All you can do is take it to an apple store, and ask for help. They might be able to fix it, or offer you a discount on a new one.
Personally I would opt for an android tablet... (Typed on my ipad)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thankyou all so much for your advice, this is food for thought. I will probably just ask Apple, but I will assume the worst. I can not afford a new one but I will make do.
Thanks again.
By the way, the shelf life of an iPad: around 5 years plus

I would love to know how you determined that figure! The very first iPad went on sale in the UK at the end of May 2010 - there isn't a 5-year-old UK-bought iPad in existence, let alone "plus".LaurenceDodds wrote: »By the way, the shelf life of an iPad: around 5 years plus
Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -

Says who?
You may get lucky with goodwill, but as things stand you have the right to use your iPad as a large, and probably not terribly effective, table mat or coaster.0 -

Can you provide evidence of this?
For some reason i dont think you can as to do this you would need to know every single person who has purchased an iPad since the arrived on the market0 -

He already has.
iPad's have not been out for 5 years, it was impossible to buy an iPad 5 years ago (because they didn't exist)0 -
Apple are very good at dealing with their products, when they develop faults etc., out of guarantee.
It usually involves booking an appointment at one of their stores, with their techno guys, and they either repair, replace or offer a new replacement, at discounted cost (depending on what is wrong with the item).
Worth a punt anyway.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

The first ipad was released in the US on the 3rd April 2010 and a few weeks later in the UK (ie, less than 5 years ago) so no, you don't need to know every single person who has ever purchased an iPad.0 -
I bought a iPad on launch day, it was at the end of April 2010. Still have it and it still works.0
