Road Angel Classic

When I purchased my Road Angel speed camera indicator I paid £99 for a Lifetime 'Update' service. When I now try to update I receive the message "The Road Angel did not recognise the response from the server".

I wrote to the Company 17th December 2014 but have not received a reply and I suspect they have now withdrawn their support altogether.

Is anyone still able to update their Road Angel Classic?

Just had the same problem updating my RA Classic.
Received a reply from Blackspot technical support saying they have a major hardware fault on the Road Angel Classic server and are working on it.
No estimate, however, but will endeavour to let me know.
The support ticket is still open, so hopefully will get a reply when the server is fixed and can update my classic.
So it would seem that legacy support is still available (when the hardware works!); perhaps due to the complaints received from 'lifetime' subscribers that paid for the updates to continue.
  • Thank you for the information Wirdy.

Have just tried, once again, to update my RoadAngel Classic but without success. We do waste much time dealing with this company, one way or another, don't we?

There is now a new message "The subscription has expired. Please contact Blackspot administration for further assistance". I didn't have any success with their suggested web address?

I shall be writing to Mark Thickbroom once again.

Why not just obey the law instead of trying to get away with speeding?

You're right, of course, but these devices are useful when speed limit signs are not clearly displayed and also warn of accident blackspots; so on that basis I think they increase road safety rather than the opposite :)
