A good place to spend a week in March?

Hi,

We're hoping to have a short break in March. It'll be between two larger holidays so preferably somewhere that isn't too far, and isn't too expensive would be a nice bonus :)

Happy to do a city break (thinking maybe Barcelona? Bruges? Venice? Prague?) or a sunny break if it'll be warm enough (somewhere like Marrakech?)

Would really appreciate any recommendations, thank you :D

    I've been Money Tipped!
So where are the two larger holidays? It would be nice to give all that info so people don't waste their time suggesting a place if you are already going there.

Marrakech is probably not a bad choice, will be sort of Spring type weather there, whereas European cities may still be quite chilly. We were supposed to go to Marrakech in December, but weren't able to go. We had booked Riu Tikida Palmeraie which is an All Inclusive and supposed to be lovely. We'll try to book again another time as I'd love to see it. Or what about Istanbul?

We went to Sardinia last March and it was lovely. All the sights were open but there were no tourists!

Sorry for not being clear, we went to Mauritius late last year and are thinking Thailand for our holiday after this one - so we'd definitely like something a little closer to home for this one.

Riu Tikida Palmeraie looks amazing! Sorry you weren't able to go. Istanbul would be good too but I'm a bit wary of Turkey... not sure why but I've heard some bad things

Sardinia looks amazing too - thank you! Would definitely love to go there and it's not a place I had considered until I read your post. Is it more of a beachy holiday though? (I only ask because the beaches look so good!) - if so it might be a bit cold for a beach holiday?

    Thank you

It's what you make of it. We spent a lovely 2 hours on the beach on the warmest day (24 degrees) but otherwise there are loads of sights to see if you like driving and exploring. There was even some snow left in March.
  • Paris might be cheap?

Thank you, 24 degrees sounds like a nice temperature for us so will certainly consider it :)

Paris is a good recommendation too thank you, but we went there fairly recently so would like to try somewhere else. Thanks again all for the recommendations!
  • We went to Nice last Feb, it was chilly but lovely. We went for the opening of the Nice Carnival, which was great to see, it may go into March, I'm not sure. You can get a bus really cheaply to Monaco for the day, to see how the other half really live! We hired an apartment via tripadvisor in the old town which was great, as right in the heart of the action.

We actually hired a Renault Twizzy (2 seater Electric car, but you sit one behind the other) and we drove to Monaco. Plus we did the obligatory Grand Prix laps in it, we got more looks than all the supercars!

the whole of the riviera is really picturesque.

Haha, that sounds great! I love the idea of doing the grand prix laps in a small two seater electric car :D I never knew you could even do that - was it expensive?

I think it was around £30 for the day, we got it from Nice, and Drove to M0naco, around 20 mins away. That thing was NIPPY! I had looked up circuit tours, but couldn't find anything so this was next best thing. All the free maps have it marked on them. You plug it in when you get to the car park to charge up!

this is the one we had I think:
