Credit Rating for Mortgage - Quick Question

Hi
Just a quick question. Do you know if banks use internal credit ratings for mortgages?
I understand that they would usually build a credit rating from agencies info, however if both applicants are customers (current acccount, loan & CC) with the bank would the internal rating also be a factor or would this be ignored?
Me and my wife have a good history and internal credit rating with halifax, I am therefore wondering if i applied there vs a bank i have never used before if i am more likely to be successful there than another bank??
Thanks in advance
