Blocked toilet...!

I need something to unblock a toilet - have tried a very strong sulphuric acid based chemical overnight, but it doesn't seem to have worked. Whenever the toilet is flushed, the water rises right to the rim but gradually sinks back to the normal level over an hour or so. Nothing is visible, and obviously the strong acid hasn't done any good. Will I have to call a plumber out or can anyone recommend another approach?

    Good afternoon: DIY advice is available at the link below but be advised it can get messy :eek:.My OH (plumbing/heating engineer) ranks clearing toilet/drain blockages as his least favourite plumbing job.

    This might be a bit old fashoned and unsophisticated but have you tried a plunger? You could also try sticking something flexible (like an old length of hosepipe) round the U-bend to see if you can dislodge the blockage.

    Of course the blockage could be much further down the waste pipe in which case you'll have to call dynorod or someone like that.

    Had the same problem last year:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: & tried everything i thought possible until my
    sister suggested that if i had an old mophead tie it up with a plastic bag & stick this down the loo !!!!!!!!@ this point i was willing to try anything.
    I did & LOO!!!!!!!! & BEHOLD done the trick :T :T :T :T :T
    Hope this helps.
  • I bought a big plunger from B & Q and the missus says it does the job brilliantly.

    However, it did persist to block around once every fourtnight (nothing to do with me:confused: ) so we called a reputable plumber and he said that one of the vaccum bags had gone. He put a new system in and for the past 3 months we have been blockage free.

    Thanks, all - I went home armed with these suggestions and it had unblocked itself while I'd been at work! Surprised it took about 20 hours for the stuff to work, but there you go.

    Excuse my ignorance, but what have vacuum bags got to do with a karzi?
    "You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • Im no plumber so forgive me if I called it by the wrong name but there are 2 bags in the siphon and one of them had gone.

    Do you have a pressure washer ?
    If you do,then try that.I have used my pressure washer to clear the sink
    and a friend took my advice and cleared their toilet, that was blocked,
    using the pressure washer.
