Hi everyone,
Just need to have a quick moan as I'm feeling so fed up
Loads of reasons why.. here's just a few of them
My son is leaving home soon and I'm really going to miss him a lot, also going to miss the freedom I currently have as he'll babysit for my younger child.
I've been single for what feels like forever and the casual friendship type thing I've been having for the last year is coming to an end. My own fault as I've been an idiot.
I have a painful and unsightly skin condition which makes me depressed.
My house and garden are a mess.
I'm skint, I'm fat and I'm going grey!!
I've been fed up and weepy for the last few weeks. Seem to give out quite a lot but get very little back.
I could go on but don't want to bore you
Any (cheap!) suggestions to help me pull myself together a bit?

My son is leaving home soon and I'm really going to miss him a lot, also going to miss the freedom I currently have as he'll babysit for my younger child. He'll come back for visits and you'll have a really good time together! How old is your younger child? There are always lots of teenagers looking for babysitting jobs.
I've been single for what feels like forever and the casual friendship type thing I've been having for the last year is coming to an end. My own fault as I've been an idiot. I'd look at it like it wasn't meant to be then and it leaves you free to find the right person for you.
I have a painful and unsightly skin condition which makes me depressed. Have you consulted your doctor about it? Or an aromatherapist?
My house and garden are a mess. I know that feeling. The trick is to do little by little, room by room and before you know it your house will tidy and then you can get on with the garden.
I'm skint, I'm fat and I'm going grey!! Whilst you are tidying your house you might find things to Ebay or sell at carboot sales. I'm going grey too and it's amazing how down it makes me feel so I buy cheap home dye from Boots or the supermarket. The cost is about £4 but it's really worse it as it makes me feel so much better and so much younger.
I've been fed up and weepy for the last few weeks. Seem to give out quite a lot but get very little back. You might be a little depressed. Again it my be worth seeing your gp

I'm sorry you're feeling so down. It all seems to happen at the same time doesn't it? I hope your mood improves soon. I find going for a walk in the sunshine (we have a little bit here today - amazing) is really good for lifting the spirit, and it's exercise and costs nothing!LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

All brilliant advice form January so I thought I would add my bits too

Have you told him that? He WILL be back, but it is so hard letting them go isnt it? Have you thought about seeing if there are any babysitting circles in your area? Or try www.swapskill.com where you can trade skills (might be a good way of getting your house and garden done too

Were you happy with a casual thing? It may have been preventing you looking a little further for something better? You know what they say when one door closes another one opens, and Mr Perfect could just be around the corner!have a painful and unsightly skin condition which makes me depressed
First port of call your doctors for some anti-biotics to get rid of the pain if nothing else. Try your local college as of September and book yourself in for a course of pampering, if you have any sort of skin condition history you will be used to within an inch of your life!I'm skint, I'm fat and I'm going grey!!
Honey, we all are! Skint is having kids, fat see previous! and going grey is also contributed to by the kids :rotfl: it may well be that your skin condition is an allergy of some sort which is not helping the weight. The going grey I cant really help with, as I am too! But the local college will have a hairdressing salon attached as well, and they are really good!I've been fed up and weepy for the last few weeks. Seem to give out quite a lot but get very little back.
Its all part and parcel of the kids moving on as well, but I agree you may well be depressed. You need to go and see your GP and have a good weep at him or her, and see what they can do to help. It may not be a prescription for anti depressants but a prescription for the gym that will help. Getting out in whatever sunshine we have will help as well, I know I have been feeling weepy until the sun shone today and I could sit out at lunchtime like a basking lizard.
Dont feel that you are on your own, there are lots of us in the same boat, just some at different stages so dont feel afraid to talk to us.

Thank you for your replies

My younger child is 12 so still really needs a babysitter if I'm out for any length of time, or too far away. I'm worried I'll not meet anyone again if I never go out, or if I do meet someone we'll never get any time together!!
I've just been to the doctors and got some antibiotics for my nasty skin and so hopefully that'll stop hurting soon and I can move about a bit more (no excuse for not doing housework then unfortunately)
A walk in the sunshine sounds good, it is quite sunny here too now

Kimitatsu, yes I have told him I'll miss him, but don't want to make him feel bad about going so don't want to say it too much if you know what I mean

We are waiting for his results too, so thats another worry which I haven't got on the list!!
I am reasonably happy with a casual thing going on, it is nice just to be me once or twice a week.
I like the sound of the local beauty college.... I'm definitely going to give that a go in September. I don't think they'll be able to help the skin, I doubt they'll even want to touch it LOL but I could use some other treatments

Hope you have a nice walk, do have a chat with your doctor though if it continues I put up with feeling down for months, when I gave in and went to the doctor they quickly found out why.
Hope you feel better soon

I don't know what your skin condition is but I know several people with psoriasis and it makes them very depressed and self concious. Like everyone else says about the hair dye it. In the ACM at boots there is a voucher for Boots own hair ,dye half price making it £1.49 (the money saving bit) When you have been bringing up children all your life it is hard to think of yourself first, but by doing so you can be happier. I have found solitary pursuits that don't involve the kids (unless they and you want to) I like walking, you could join a rambling club if you like that sort of thing. I have taken up cycling, got rid of some wieght and feel much fitter. I also belong to a dance group. i love dancing and we all go out together a couple of times a year. You really need to be thinking of what you would like now as your 12 year old will soon become more independent, and probably want to spend less time with you. As to your relationship, you know best there. I agree some time on your own is good, but perhaps not all of it, but maybe by pursuing other interest you will meet new people and possibly someone special.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
