Hello
We installed a new sink and bath around 18 months ago, around a year after we noticed what appears to be water stains on the sink (where the water first contacts the sink) and around the plug in both the sink and bath.
It looks really unsightly, can anyone recommend anything to remove it? Ive tried soapy water.
I attach a photo for the problem:

Bleach?

As long as the bath is plastic (not enamel), a limescale remover or bathroom cleaner spray should sort that out. Spray on when stain is dry & leave for a few mins before using a non-scratch plastic bristle brush. Try Ecover's limescale remover spray or Bathroom Cleaner Spray or Cillit Bang's grime & Lime.0

It's limescale, does your tap drip a bit?
Anything like Harpic will get rid, just squirt it on and leave for about 10 mins. Bleach will lessen it, but not as well.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Hello
The sink tap doesnt. The bath tap sometimes does after a shower.Oxfordmark

Presumably from your username, you're based in oxford, where the water is pretty hard so it will be limescale. Wipe over it with vinegar, or leave a cloth soaked in vinegar on it0

The only thing I've found that works for ceramic sinks is biological washing powder. Put the plug in, sprinkle powder liberally around the sink, then pour in a kettle full of boiling water. Leave for at least an hour, then rinse.
Cif, washing up liquid, and other 'normal' cleaners don't seem to come near it.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -

Ceramic is fine - it's enamel (e.g. the old-style white baths that are enamelled metal instead of fibreglass) that you have to be very careful about which cleaning products you use.0
