    Always look at both as it can vary between insurers, my current fully comp is the cheapest I've ever had, but I did have 3rd party a few years ago as it was cheaper than anything else. Not much difference in the real world for what you get if you run old cars, although a car worth £1k would be a luxury for me.

    In addition to the extra premium and excess think about how much extra it would cost over 5 yrs declaring a claim.
