edf meter mix up
Edf are giving me a headache! After contacting them to change my direct debit date, they somehow took two payments from me. One on the 8th (old DD date) and one today (new DD date). I'm eventually getting one payment refunded, but before doing that they wanted Meter readings.
I got my Meter readings -gas was fine- electric, got a bit complicated. The readings today were 00700 and 02900 roughly. That lined up nicely with previous readings I provided on 06/11/2014. Based on those previous readings, I was billed on 13/11/2014 and payments since then meant my account this morning showed £290 in credit. All great, or so I thought. I tried to input my new readings online but it kept throwing up errors saying that they didn't match with my old readings, contrary to what I could see on screen.
I spoke to an online chat advisor, who was saying that my last readings were in the region of 36000 and 23000 or something just as ridiculous. I logged into my account again and everything had changed. It was saying my last Meter readings were as the advisor said, dated from July 2014. My November meter readings and bill had vanished! The advisor finally told me they were removed because they were 'incorrect'
I can trace all this back to December 2013, when I switched from E.on to edf. At that point, I was getting a final reading for E.on but my electric meter was broken - the display wasn't working. I contacted edf and they eventually fixed it. I still have the card from the engineer by my meter showing the serial numbers, the meter readings, and the date it was changed, 20/12/13. All readings were reset to zero.
Not sure what I expect from posting, I'm just absolutely confused as to what went wrong, and I'm quite upset by it all. Why did they take my meter readings in November if the previous were totally wrong? I now expect I'm going to be totally shafted with a massive bill in my near future, which I feel is totally due to their incompetence.

Is it resonable for me to expect the engineer that edf employees to fix the Meyer would then pass on the new serial number and readings to them?Life's not about finding youself; It's about creating yourself0
