vista search-how to remove old links?

you know when you do a search in the vista start menu, well it finds links to things that were deleted days ago. is there a way of cleaning all the non existent search results?

I think to clear this you right click on the search tab and it then comes up with options to clear the list. I cant check it as i upgraded my Vista to Xp pro recently

thanks but that doesn't work, only gives you the option to remove the programs from the list. this is so annoying, saying theres stuff there that isnt. anyone else know?Fr. ive gone into customise and unticked search favourites and history...but in the results its still showing my internet history (have cleaned that too) and various files which have been deleted for days.Fr.
