Default place on my credit file definitely not mine help!

Options
So some background lived in a house from 2009 to July 2011. Over a year later I received a letter in October from a dca called Moorcroft stating I owed £250 to a company called 24studio taken out at mt old address and I told them it wasn't my debt and duly sent over the evidence my ta for my previous address where the debt taken out and the ta for where I moved to I then received a letter confirming they received the proof then a letter a couple months later stating the account had been closed and passed back to the client. I was nieve in thinking this had meant the account was sorted but nope some years later 2014 I attempted to apply for a loan and was called back and was told I didn't get accepted because of a default I had obtained my credit file prior to applying and all was fine no defaults. Then I looked after asking what has caused the default and she said a mail order company. Checked my file and in it states surpressed information mail order company and it was 24studio. So I then contacted them and callcredit sending them both the proof that I wasnt at the address when the account was opened. That was a month ago now and ive received no reply from either other than a confirmation they've received the email. What I would like to know is can I report the.company to the fca for not having removed the account in the first instance? What will happen?

You need to dispute the debt with studio24. I think from your post you originally only disputed it with moorcroft, who just said they had passed it back to studio.

Was your letter a month ago to studio? not moorcroft? If it has been a month and they have not replied then I would write to them again headed up as a formal complaint disputing the debt is anything to do with you and asking them to provide proof of the debt or remove the entry from your credit file.

  • You might want to place them on legal notice that they are responsible for any loss they have caused you by trashing your credit file.
I do Contracts, all day every day.
  • Thanks Yeah I wrote a letter directly to studio giving them all the evidence too over a month aago but shouldn't this have been passed to studio when I sent it to moorcroft?
