ive got an item listed on Ebay as a Pick Up Only due to its size ... Ive had a Q asking how much it would cost to post .... Ive never done this before.

I've got an account with these guys (you will find cheaper, and can't book online) but I think they are fantastic.

I know they move engines for a scrappy up the road so will take anything virtually.0 -
what does this large item weigh? and approx dimensions?
payperdrop do a 5.99 service, next day within mainland UK, max weight allowed is 31.5 KG with max dimensions of 120 x 60 x 60, insured to £1000 -

Some others above will be cheaper but you can use Parcelforce via Ebay/Paypal which links it to the item and buyer which is (I think) about £10/£11 for the same service (we don't use it, so can't say how well it works!).
Be wary of some of the resellers, who open accounts with courier companies, sell on the services and then don't pay their accounts leaving parcels impounded or uncollected..0
