for 7k check out mexico, i had a renewal service out there included in the cost of my accommodation. For flights, AI and a wedding package you may get a great beach wedding. Especially over easter. One point to note mexico is busy over easter but you may be able to get something.

I looked at Santorini as a second option, Oia is stunning but expensive, you may be able to pay for a service there and then stay in perissa or kamari to save costs.

Either way Congrats though and enjoy!

wow - thanks for all the responses!! So many ideas for me to work through and check out.

Duchy, I has discounted the US due to the 'Elvis wedding' type thing, but i will look at the chapels as that sounds lovely. The kids would love it there too - especially if fitting Mickey in too is possible.

I do love Rhodes and all things greek - so that is another option - thank you for suggesting it Pollycat.

becominganobsessivesaver - I will look at kenwood travel. I hadn't heard of them and Mauritius is always somewhere I have dreamt of going. Think I need to become an obsessive saver to pay for this wedding though :-)

pmramsay - friends of ours got married in Mexico and the pictures looked beautiful. I spoke to the bride and she said we should do it for our budget. I will explore further.

I do not think anyone would be joining us, but we plan to have a 'reception' when we get home. It is all quite complicated and just want to enjoy the day without any worries.

Thank you all, I'm off hunting now:j

Be careful you know what else there is to pay. There was a story on Rip Off Britain programme earlier today where a couple'd got married abroad. Might have been Dominican Republic. Through Thomson - who say "you are responsible for paying all the paperwork costs" of your wedding to make it legal. And their bill ended up at over £2k just for their paperwork.

You can check what's required from the gov.uk website they said. https://www.gov.uk/marriage-abroad

Mexico is great too, have a look at the new Finest resort in playa Mujeres. We have stayed at the Beloved their sister hotel, but the finest looks great for older kids and has family rooms, with a separate room for the kids (good luck with the saving, my savings just get blown on holidays now!)

As I've stated on here many times, having lived there some time back I'm a great fan of Mexico, particularly the Riviera Maya; the area to the south of Cancun. Some fabulous hotels and lots for kids to do. I would just caution about going there at Easter as its the American holiday called Spring Break and all the resorts can get a bit rowdy at times. Great if you are involved but not always so quiet, and despite what others will tell you (there was a long discussion about this on here some time back) even the most expensive and exclusive hotels can be affected.
