Downloading pics from camera to Hudl 2.

I am going on holiday shortly and would like to put the pics I take on my SD card onto my Hudl 2. I have an OTA cable and have connected the card to the Hudl with a card reader. I was able to load the pics onto the hudl and view them but when I disconnected the cable the pics all disappeared.
I would appreciate any advice on keeping the pics on the Hudl, which is fitted with a micro SD card?

    drag them from the card folder to a folder on the device.

    You just need a file explorer app to move/copy the files to a folder on the device.

    No you weren't, they were never on the Hudl, they were always on the memory card.
