Website hosting advice/recommendations need

I hope someone can help with this, as my brain's doing cartwheels with all the searching I've been doing.
I'm trying to help someone set up a website, & they've asked me to help them find hosting for it. Initially they won't be selling anything online, but they will want to in 3-6 months, at which point they'll need an online shop or at the very least facilities by which to process credit card payments. Some of the items will be rather adult in nature, so they don't want to go to a company that could frown on that. Can any of you recommend a company that will offer hosting that's flexible enough to allow them a basic package now, with the ability to add on the payment facilities at a later date? They're limited cash-wise (hence the idea to sell online), & they need to be able to update the site themselves whenever they need to, so it mustn't be very complicated to use. It won't be a huge site like those offering multimedia downloads, just something to allow them to sell online without a major financial outlay or loads of headaches trying to keep running. Many thanks.

They could always buy a domain name which is v. cheap from somewhere like 1&1. In the short term, (as you say they want to save money) they could point it to a free hosting site such as freehostia.
Freehostia give 250Mb, but if more is wanted along with fancy features, they could always buy a new hoster and take the domain name with them (thus not causing confusion with potential customers).
A friend of mine is a website designer and says the addition of the PayPal elements (an obvious way of dealing with the payments) is quite easy to add. PayPal actually provide templates for you.
I hope some of this helps.0 -
I think the sticking point is the Adult content.....many companies offer cheap hosting for 12 months with huge amounts of space and will also give u free secure space (for online retail...however, u will have to find ur own shopping cart or use paypal)...I can give u hosting for about £40/year + vat(unlimited webspace) but cannot give u space for adult content
When u say ADULT, is it pornography or just adult toys?0 -
It's the adult content they've had the problem with. They'd be selling adult toys & fetish items related to body parts, & therefore pictures of the relevant body part would also be shown, but nothing would appear that you wouldn't see on the average beach.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."
