I'd be tempted to advise them in writing that you have made a substantial contribution to his credit card debt in respect of shared expenses, but consider that, in light of the funds he borrowed from you to cover his gambling costs that you have paid more than a fair share morally and significantly more than is due in law.
State that you now consider the matter closed, and will be making no more contributions to HIS debt. Also state that you will not accept any further telephone calls from him or for them (you will no longer discuss any of his debts with them at all without receiving a written notice of consent signed by him) and that any more attempts to extort money from you for a debt that you have no legal or moral liability to pay with threats of legal action will be recorded and passed to the police as part of harassment complaint.
Send it recorded/signed for. Block their numbers and ignore any further correspondence that is from them. If they are stupid enough to try to instruct a solicitor, keep a copy of the letter and send it to any legal professional. They may be prepared to lie to a solicitor to claim a case, but the facts are far simpler.
His card, his debt. Good luckSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
