Received a WEM from Huff Post/Autotrader saying I'd won £50 to fill up my tank but they want my full bank details to pay me via a BACS transfer. This is a big no no for me but the e-mail seems legit and the sender does appear to work for Auto Trader according to linked in. I've asked if they can send me a cheque but if they say no what would you do ?.

I'd give them my bank details, they wont have ur CVS number so can't do much with those details, I've heard and had before similar request for details.
As long as you know you entered comp.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -

Are they asking for any more details than you'd give if you wrote a cheque to someone?0

Is the email from a guy called David at AutoTrader, if so I dealt with him a little while ago in regards to a win but they sent me a chequeSmile0

CVS numbers are for credit cards. Bank account details are account no and sort code and I wouldn't give them to anyone randomly.
Congrats on your win!ally.0 -

They can't take anything from your account with account no. and sort code. Besides cheques and bank transfers, the other thing you'd need bank details for is if someone wants to set up a direct debit with the information, but they would need your address and also address of bank branch too so I fail to see what they can do with that information. As someone else said, it's the same details on a chequebook. Unless there's something else I'm missing...0
