Collecting a car - tax and insurance?
I am potentially be buying a new car (well, second hand) overthe coming days and want to know the correct procedure for collecting thecar. The car currently has no MOT, but itwill be done before purchase. Due to the rule changes last year, the road tax isno longer transferrable, so it has no tax, and does not have any insurance.
It’s a 15 mile drive away so I don’t want to risk driving anun-taxed, un-insured car. I also don’t want to pay for the car, and then haveit sat at the dealers for days while I wait for the tax/insurance docs to comethrough if I can help it (what happens if someone manages to crash into it?!).
What is the correct (and fastest) way to go about this? Do Iget tax first, or insurance first? Do you still have to go to the post officefor tax or can you apply online (I know you can renew online, but not sureabout new tax).
Thanks for any help.

You take out insurance before you collect it or whilst your there with the vehicle. Depends if you want to test drive it and whether they have cover.
Tax it whilst your there also, Easily done online. make sure you use the number on the new keepers slip NOT the main V5C.
And make sure you use the GOV website and not some dodgy one that charges you extra.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
